The UAMS Regional Centers system in Arkansas works closely with the Division of Research and Practice Improvement, which is centrally-based out of the UAMS Center for Rural Health. This division exists to study, support and improve the delivery of primary care and community outreach programs in rural settings.
As part of this mission, the Division of Research and Practice Improvement encourages translational research projects throughout the UAMS Regional Centers system with its Arkansas Practice Based Research Network. Each UAMS Regional Center has also upgraded to the Centricity 10 EMR, which includes ePrescribing, CareManager, and a Patient Portal system. The forward-thinking concepts of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Meaningful Use also figure heavily as each UAMS Regional Family Medicine Clinic moves to improve the quality of outcomes for its patients.
