About the UAMS Regional Centers System

Arkansas map showing UAMS regional program areas. The UAMS Regional Centers System in Arkansas exists to extend the resources of our state’s only medical school, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), throughout the entire state.  It began in 1972, with the primary purpose of training Family Medicine Physicians.  In addition, each UAMS Regional Center has a medical library for public use, as well as an active community outreach program that serves a variety of purposes unique to that UAMS Regional Centers location.

Six of our Regional Centers also have a Family Medical Center with Family Medicine Residency Programs and Family Medicine Clinics.
